An easy detox menu
Detox is not a dirty word. It just means you’re cleaning out your body from all the toxins and the holiday excess. You will not starve eating a THM detox meal, but you may feel a little hungry as it gets close to a meal. Try these meals about 3 hours apart.
Upon rising * drink 8 oz juice (no sugar added), or have 1 cup of fresh fruit
Mid-morning * have 1 slice of 100% whole grain bread with 1 tsp soy margarine
Lunch * start with 1 cup of miso broth or clear veggie broth; follow with 2 cups leafy green salad with 1/4 cup cucumber and 3 oz canned tuna; dress with 1 Tbsp basic vinaigrette
Mid-afternoon * cup of herbal tea, one handful of fresh or lightly steamed veggies (green beans, broccoli, sugar snap peas, red pepper, carrot)
Dinner * start with 1 cup of miso broth or clear veggie broth; follow with 1/2 cup brown rice and 1 cup of stir-fried veggies (add 1 cup of chopped spinach or kale while cooking 1 cup of other veggies)
Beverages * water, herbal tea
Staying hydrated will help flush toxins from your body, so be sure to drink water or herbal tea throughout the day. You’ll want the extra water to go with the increased fiber of the whole grains, veggies, and fruits.
