New Year recovery
Who else needs to recover from the New Year celebration?
Seriously. We just spent the last 6 weeks eating more than usual (well, some of us did). Some of us are probably feeling the remains of last night’s celebration. And some of us don’t want to brave the cold (or wet, or ice) to go out and work it off.
Here are a couple of tips to get you started back on track Right Now.
First, get yourself a glass of water. Actually, you could fill a pitcher and drink from it all day. Hydration will help move any extra sludge in your body out; it will help flush your liver (if you were drinking last night); and it will give you more vitality in the cold weather. As a general rule of thumb, we suggest you drink half your weight in ounces, up to 100 oz a day. So if you weigh 150 lbs, that’s 75 oz of water a day.
Second, get up and dance. Yes, right now. Click on this song, and shake your booty. (No, we’re not kidding. You won’t lose weight or get healthy by looking at the words.)
Third, name one vegetable in your fridge or freezer that you can add to tonight’s dinner. Green beans in the soup? Broccoli as a side dish? Spinach salad, lightly dressed with vinaigrette? Carrots for an appetizer? Now follow through with your plan.
That’s a good start. Don’t forget to drink that water, and eat that veggie for dinner. And you’ve already danced at least once through the song. Right?
