Clean up the coats
We’ve done underwear – how about outerwear?
Open your coat closet and take a look at what’s there. For all your coats, jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, boots, galoshes, and umbrellas – throw out anything that doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. Mittens and gloves with holes, broken umbrellas, boots and galoshes that leak are all garbage.
Are there coats or jackets that need to go to the tailor for buttons, zippers, hems, or seams? Bag it up and put it by the door, ready to go.
Are there things that need to be cleaned? Bag them up, too. Yep – by the door.
What can be given away because you no longer need it? What do you need to replace?
Put the good stuff back in the closet, paying attention to who uses it (down low for the kids), how often (high shelves for the least used), and what else is in the closet.
