Antioxidant boosters
A few fruits that help keep you healthy…

Tart Cherries * Help reduce inflammation and regulate sleep patterns and biorhythms. Highest concentration of antioxidants is in tart cherry juice concentrate, then dried tart cherries. Canned and frozen don’t offer as much bang for your buck.

Blueberries * Fight cholesterol and promote urinary tract health. Wild blueberries are your best bet – they’re smaller than the ones you may be used to seeing in the produce section. Frozen and dried berries are as good as fresh.

Acai Berries * Fight cancer, heart disease, diabetes, inflammation, obesity, and age-related illnesses. Go for the flash-frozen acai berry pulp (check frozen foods) rather than juice blends.

Apples * Lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and protect against breast, colon, liver, and digestive cancers. May also benefit the brain and fight Alzheimer’s disease. (Yeah, that apple-a-day thing was dead-on.) Best source – in the peel! Also, Red Delicious apples have the most antioxidants – but any apple with a peel is better than no apple.
