5 triggers for self-sabotage |
When you find yourself reaching for something to eat, ask yourself if you’re just B.L.A.S.T.ing off!
- B * Bored – If you’re not actively engaged in your own life, you’ll fall for any cue to eat, whether that’s a television commercial, a store window, or someone else’s snack. Food doesn’t bring personal fulfillment.
- L * Lonely – Food is not intended to be a companion in life. It cannot fill the void of friendship. Build connections with other people instead of your refrigerator, and get through the rough spots in life with their support.
- A * Angry – While you can get some calming benefits from food, you can also get them from exercise, from writing about your feelings, and from therapy. Don’t eat your emotions.
- S * Starving – This is a reason to eat. If you are truly hungry – then eat. But eat something good for you. Sabotage comes when we grab the first available food, and not the best available food.
- T * Tired – Obviously, if you’re tired, you need sleep, not food. Sometimes you can’t go to bed right away, but that doesn’t mean food will keep you awake. Refresh yourself with a cool glass of water, not a sandwich.

You choose twelve personal healthy habits you want to develop or strengthen from a much longer list. They can be as simple as drinking the right amount of water (we’ll help you figure out what that is), or flossing your teeth. They can be a little more challenging, like eating five servings of vegetables each day, or going vegan. Your life. Your choice. What YOU need to get healthy now.
Love for yourself, that is.
