A blessed Yom Kippur
Okay, it’s not Sunday, so you’re not expecting a “Spirit Sunday” type post today. Not all holy days fall on Sunday, and today is a big day for Jewish people.
Yom Kippur is probably the most important holiday of the Jewish year. The name “Yom Kippur” means “Day of Atonement.” It is a day set aside to atone for the sins people committed against G-d during the past year. One example of this is how you treat the Earth and all its resources.
On this holy day, the judgment against each person is entered into the Book of Life and is sealed. This day is, essentially, your last appeal, your last chance to change the judgment, to demonstrate your repentance and make amends.
Think about how you treat the Earth and its resources.
- Are you aware of how much water you use?
- How much food you waste?
- What your carbon footprint is (and what it could be)?
- How you treat animals?
- Are you willing to commit to some improvements?
May your name be written and sealed in the Book of Life.
May you have a good and peaceful year.
