The next online class at Marilu.com starts Monday, March 8! Twelve great days to be honest with yourself – to get real about what you want for your life.
Dear Diary is an accountability class. Set 12 inTENtions (goals) you want to measure in the 12 days of class. Report on your inTENtions in a supportive community, getting personal coaching each day from Dar, one of Marilu’s hand-picked coaches.
If you’ve struggled with your personal inTENtions this year, if you need encouragement, if you need a kick in the pants to get serious – this is the class for you.
Come and see my new club act at The Gardenia in Los Angeles on March 4, 5, and 6! The show is at 9 pm each night. I’m singing and dancing – it’s so much fun. You’ll love it! Hope to see you there!

It’s been a long winter! There’s been snow everywhere, even in the Deep South. It’s been cold and dry, it’s been cold and wet. Make yourself feel better with midwinter home spa day.
There a few themes for a home spa day – hydration, exfoliation, and relaxation. Of course you can add other things, like a mani-pedi, or experimenting with your makeup, or deep conditioning your hair. We’re going to stick with the basics, so you can fit this midwinter refresh into a normal day (not an overscheduled one – this will fill up a few hours).
Start your day with a glass of cool (not cold) water.
Skin brush before your shower to exfoliate your skin and stimulate your lymph system.
Moisturize before you dry off.
Make yourself a cup of your favorite tea – chamomile is relaxing, but drink what you like. Drink tea or cool water through the day.
Spend at least an hour doing something relaxing – read a book or a magazine, watch a favorite movie, take a nap (yes!), listen to a calming playlist, daydream.
Set aside an hour before bed to continue your spa day.
Make this dessert when you need something simple and sweet – and automatically portion-controlled. Put them in school lunches (or your own brown bag lunch), or toss a few in a small container when you’ll be out running errands all day. You’ll be able to skip the junk food at the checkout counter or food court if you have something healthy to snack on.
~*~ ~*~ ~*~ Crunchy Crisps Yellow * 16 pieces
1/2 cup natural chunky peanut butter (or any thick nut butter)
1/2 cup honey, maple syrup, or agave (or a combination totaling 1/2 cup)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups crispy brown rice cereal
shredded coconut or sesame seeds, optional
In a large bowl, mix the nut butter, sweetener, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined. Add the cereal adn fold in gently until evenly coated. Cover and set aside for 20 minutes. Place a dish of water nearby and cover a cookie sheet or plate with parchment paper or waxed paper. With wet hands, squeeze mixture into walnut-sized balls and place them on the sheet to harden. If desired, roll in shredded coconut or sesame seeds.
We learned a great way to help improve our children’s school lunches yesterday – while we were in chat with Dr. Neal Barnard and Marilu. Here’s what Dr. Barnard said.
The most amazing thing is that Congress is now considering vegetarian and vegan options for children in school. It would make kids so much healthier.
Please call Congress at 202-224-3121, and tell them your city, and they’ll put you through to your representative’s office. Ask your representative to support the new bill calling for more vegetarian options in schools.
Stop by next Tuesday, March 9 at 10 PM Eastern/7 PM Pacific for another chat with Marilu and Dr. Barnard. These chats are a collaboration between Marilu.com and PCRM’s 21-day Vegan Kickstart program.
The next online class at Marilu.com is starting soon!

Dr. Barnard is the founder and president of Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine. We’ve all had those days when other people want to control us. We come home from work or school, or we walk out of a meeting or away from a partner, feeling less than ourselves.
When we’re feeling pulled in too many directions, or dragged against our will, there are things we can do… besides shout “you’re not the boss of me!” (You know you’ve wanted to do that…)
We can stick to the routine that makes us feel the healthiest – that makes us feel empowered.
Eat foods that make your body stronger – vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fruits, and lean proteins.
Exercise every day – get your heart muscle in shape and get fresh air into your lungs.
Go to bed at a reasonable hour and get enough sleep.
Skip the chemicals, caffeine, and alcohol. Stay hydrated with water..
Your mind and your body will be able to deal with life’s difficult situations when you take care of yourself. It’s the best way to take control of your life.
Now get up and get moving – this song is all about empowerment.
