Of course here at Marilu.com we’ve known this all along. In fact Marilu wrote a book dedicated to this very subject. “Healthy Kids” is all about giving your kids the very best start in life.
Here’s an article that confirms just how important nutrition is to a child’s brain development and cognitive function. The European Journal of Epidemiology recently published the results of a study that concludes that children fed a healthy diet in the first 2 years of life scored significantly higher in intelligence testing than their counterparts who were given junk food at an early age.
The report reads, in part: The study examined the dietary habits of 7,079 kids at six, 15, and 24 months old, following with a standard IQ test at age eight. Children who were breastfed at six months and followed with a healthy diet including foods such as legumes, fruit, and vegetables at 15 and 24 months had scored on average one to two points higher than those whose diets were high in foods such as biscuits, chocolate, sweets, and soda in their first two years.
Convenience food is easy but is it worth it? Here at Marilu.com we’ve got all the tips to help a busy mom. Nutrition can be second nature.
