Where can I find more information about why dairy, meat, sugar are bad for me?
Many books have been written about the evils of dairy,
meat and sugar they are usually in the health and
nutrition section of your library or bookstore. However,
it can be difficult to read and understand everything!
We are fortunate that Marilu has been studying health
and nutrition for over 25 years, and has put together
the Total Health Makeover from all shes learned.
You can read more about these topics in Marilus
books - Total Health Makeover, 30-Day Total Health Makeover,
Healthy Life Kitchen, and Healthy Kids.

How fast will I lose weight?
Weight loss varies with each individual. The more overweight
and unhealthy you are, the faster you will lose weight.
We have reports of people losing over fifteen pounds in
twenty-one days. Most weight loss is approximately one
to two pounds per week. (back

How much exercise should I be doing each day?
Marilu suggests that you break
a sweat during exercise for at least ten minutes per day.
You can choose anything, from dancing around your house,
to walking outdoors. Whatever you choose, be sure it is
something you enjoy and will do with GUSTO! (back

I am so excited about the changes Ive seen in my own body and how good I feel. How can I pass this along to my friends, without insulting the way they eat now?
Great question! People develop an enormous passion for
THM, as the results are so positive, and they want to
pass their passion onto friends and family. The best way
to pass THM on is to LIVE IT
the change in your face,
figure and energy levels will be so obvious, people will
be begging to know your "secret"! (back

I see in the health food store, that there are substitutes for my old favorites, such as soy milk, soy cheese and soy meats
.what type of weight loss can I expect by simply subbing the new foods for the old?
You may find it difficult to lose weight if you do not
add fresh, live, wet foods to your diet. This means
fresh fruits and vegetables, not processed substitutes. The more
you follow the program and consume live wet foods (vegetables and fruits), the
faster you will see weight loss results and the better
you will feel. (back

Im really confused about carbs and why people say theyre bad for me.
Carbohydrates are categorized as either simple or complex,
depending on how they break down in the human body. Simple
carbs are basically sugars they break down to glucose
quickly and dont have a lot of nutritional benefit.
Foods classified as simple carbs include candy, desserts,
and processed flour foods like bread, pasta and
cereal. Complex carbs have more fiber and break down more
slowly, thus providing more nutritional benefit. Foods
classified as complex carbs include whole grains (like
brown rice and oatmeal), legumes (like kidney beans and garbanzos), fruits and vegetables.
On the THM program, we eat complex carbs because they
provide so many important nutrients. We stay away from
simple carbs because they are "empty" calories.
