HOT AND STEAMY

This is about the ultimate comfort food but with a whole new twist.  Coaches Healthful and MplsMom (sometimes referred to as “The Jills”) have been working for weeks to bring you incredible soup recipes and one pot dishes that are full of nutrition and flavor. 

This isn’t like a five year old article in the waiting room:  “10 Uses for Leftover Pot Roast”  <gag>

This is hot steamy food that suits your lifestyle, nourishes your body and keeps your energy levels up right through winter.  

This class will have more than just recipes.  Join the fun, try some new ingredients, bring questions and share your own favorite tips and recipes.

This comes just in time for the more extreme temperatures some of you are facing.  Beginning February 6th we’re launching another brand new class here at marilu.com.   We’re going to get hot and steamy in the kitchen.

Comfort doesn’t have to mean “cushion”.    One pot meals and soup recipes will fill the need for hearty fare and they’re also a great way to include lots of vegetables and wet foods in your diet.

These are wise words from the famous actress Mary Pickford.  Of course this advice applies to nearly every situation in our lives but at this time of year it especially applies to our health and fitness.  Join another of our favorite actresses to get a fresh start and begin 2012 from a position of strength and determination.  Marilu welcomes you to the site and invites you to please post your questions and share your own tips for success on the message boards.

10 Steps

The Total Health Makeover is based on 10 steps which, followed as a lifestyle, will improve your health and energy levels and make it easier for you to manage your weight.  These will all be covered in depth beginning January 2nd in the member’s area.  Here’s a sneak preview:

 

1. Watch for chemicals in the foods you eat.
2. Cut back on – and try to cut out – caffeine and nicotine.
3. Replace processed sugar with natural alternatives.
4. Limit – or eliminate – red meat.
5. Avoid dairy products (anything made from the milk of another animal).
6. Combine your foods for efficient digestion.
7. Reduce the fats you eat.
8. Exercise daily.
9. Get enough sleep.
10. Do everything with Gusto!

Giving Good Gifts

There are a lot of gifts changing hands these days.  While you’re giving good things to others this holiday season don’t leave yourself off the list.  Be good to yourself with mindful eating, time to “de-stress” with a good workout or with a half hour time out, healthy foods on your plate and plenty of water to stay hydrated. 

Another quick tip: mark your calendar for January 2nd and join us for our first class of 2012 when we get BACK TO BASICS….BECAUSE IT WORKS !

Take it into the New Year !

Today is the last day of our Hot for the Holidays class.  Many thanks to Jan for all of the hard work that she puts into this class.   Not only does she coach this class but she also coaches our yearly Viva la Vegan class with her daughter Kyra each summer in the member’s area. as And those are in addition to the What’s Cooking forum, which she guides all year.

Honest Assessment

We all have it.  An area where we sabotage ourselves.  Maybe it’s procrastination. Maybe it’s eating the crusts from your kids sandwiches and their leftover cookies.  (Not wanting to “waste” could be showing up on your waist.) Maybe you use the holidays as an excuse for excess and your budget is straining under the load. 

Today we’re going to be our own best friends and be brutally honest with ourselves!

Hitting The Road

Holiday Travel!   There’s so much about this that’s out of your control.  There’s nothing you can do about airport delays, gas prices, or traffic jams.  But there are areas where you ARE in control !
