LIVE YOUR LIFE WELL

In honor of Marilu’s birthday today we want to remind everyone to LIVE YOUR LIFE WELL !  Make the most of your weekend and enjoy it with GUSTO !

We’re sharing a movie review here, not just because a great film is a way to relax and unwind after a busy week but because we’re impressed with the young man who wrote this very insightful review.  Thank you Nick Lieberman !   (If that name sounds familiar to you it’s because Nick is Marilu’s oldest son, pictured here with Marilu, her husband Michael, and her younger son Joey.)

Dry Winter Weather ? Try this “Spa on a Budget” Tip

From Marilu Henner’s 30 Day Total Health Makeover:

“If your feet are dry and flaky, coat them in Vaseline.  Put on a clean pair of cotton socks, and sleep with the socks on. ……… This is a cheap way to get your feet soft. (I like wearing socks to bed.  I always did, I guess, because I grew up in Chicago, and it was freezing cold.  I do this tip a lot.”

Red Meat

Still think a little red meat now and then can’t hurt you?  Chew on this:

“The concentration of pesticides found in meat is as much as ten times that found in grains, fruits, and vegetables.  Chemical and pesticide accumulation in the body is a serious matter.  The higher the amount a body consumes and stores, the higher the risk of cancer and liver failure.  Cancer growths in animals are much more common than people realize.  The butcher cuts them out at the slaughterhouse or supermarket before the meat is sold to the consumer.”   Marilu Henner, Healthy Holidays

Walk It Off

Stay healthy by combining two known immune boosters….exercise and social ties.

A study at Carnegie Mellon University found that among a group of people exposed to a cold virus the ones with stronger social ties were less likely to become sick.  So dress for the weather, grab a friend and take a walk, take a class, take the stairs.  Just get moving and have some fun !

ZZZzzzzzz…….

“If someone told you that you could look younger, feel better, boost your energy level, and keep yourself healthy, wouldn’t you want to know how to do that?  It’s simple, it’s cheap, and it’s as easy as getting a good night’s sleep.  Your body has a built-in clock that knows when you are sleep-deprived and when you are right on schedule.  You can’t cheat your need for sleep without cheating yourself.

Getting enough sleep allows your body to be a natural healer for almost every ailment that can affect you.  People who are totally sleep-deprived find themselves down for the count.  They literally work themselves into the ground until their bodies give them a reminder to slow down and get essential rest.  Sleep is truly one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.  Your body will thank you, your mind will thank you, and everyone in your life will than you , too–because you won’t be crabby!”  Marilu Henner, The 30 Day Total Health Makeover
