Don’t overthink your exercise and fitness routine.
Just Do It.(thanks, Nike)
If you stop and think about it, you will find 10,000 reasons for NOT doing it. There’s always something that needs to be cleaned, or a project you haven’t finished, or a kid who needs your attention. It will still be there for you to clean or finish or attend to when you’re done exercising.
Don’t think about it – just start, and 30 minutes later, you can get back to the rest of your life.
Don’t let a couple of days on the calendar sidetrack you from your goals. When Monday rolls around, feel proud of all you’ve accomplished this weekend – by getting ahead, rather than falling behind.
Right now, celebrate the start of a weekend of progress. Click that arrow and just dance.
Take a look at who you see walking around the shopping mall or in line at the movie theater. What do you see when you’re at an airport? Do these people look healthy to you? Really take a good look around, and I think you’ll be hard-pressed to find a truly vibrant, healthy person, someone who has skin that’s tight and smooth, alert eyes, positive mental energy, and a look of real physical fitness. As human beings we have taken ourselves so far away from our natural instincts. We don’t walk around with good posture, we carry excess baggage (physical and emotional) like it was designer luggage. We eat completely unnatural foods for our bodies, and basically live a very different lifestyle from the one we were intended to live.
Alright, it’s time for some Christmas music that you can move to. This song is pretty well known because it’s part of a popular Christmas movie.
Get up, dance around, and take a break from the stress of getting it all done in the next few days.Exercise is a stress reliever. If nothing else, you’ll at least get your blood circulating up to your brain again, and you’ll be able to think a little more clearly about what you need to do next.
And just in case you need reminding
Girl you’re beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
You know, we’re not reminded enough that we’re beautiful.
That we should never sell ourselves short, or settle for a relationship that’s less than we deserve.
That we’re worth more.
On this last day of our That’s a Wrap – The Time is WOW class, here’s one more song kind of related to clothing and presentation (thanks again Sally!).
Dress yourself in love – that is, love yourself, and you’ll always look great. You’ll always want to look great, too.
Part of looking great is being fit, so get up and get moving. The tempo of this song is suited to strength training, so pick up your hand weights or a couple of soup cans or water bottles, and tone those arms. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean sleeves are part of every outfit… so don’t ignore your arms!
This time of year, it may seem that everything is falling on YOU. You’re cooking and cleaning and working and checking homework and attending sporting events and choir concerts … just like you always do. And you’re also planning the holidays, sending greeting cards, inviting people over, buying and wrapping and shipping gifts, decorating the house, and … well, it’s just so much more.
Take care of yourself.
Eat well. Aim for 10 servings (that’s 5 cups total) of fruits and vegetables each day. Stick with whole grains. Skip the white foods (flour, sugar, salt). Choose lean proteins, and eat more vegetarian meals. Drink water. Keep exercising. If you’re not doing at least 20 minutes of some activity that makes you sweat every day, then start.
Get up now, Supergirl, and get moving with this song.
Dance til you break a sweat, and then dance for 10 more minutes. Go wild.
The holiday season has officially started, and that’s the best reason we know to stick to your fitness routine. Well, unless you don’t have one. Then it’s the best reason to start one.
No excuses. You probably ate yourself into a food coma earlier this week, and you may still be (over)eating leftovers. So get up and get dancing.
