Today’s song is a small show of thanks to Chef Ryan for sharing his foodie expertise with us these past two weeks in the Mix It Up March online class. It may seem like an unusual choice, but Ryan’s been around THMers for over a decade, and he knows we talk about all kinds of things here – including thongs.

For you? It’s time to get up and get moving. Use the song to motivate you as you pick up your office before leaving for the weekend, or to get you to “shake that thing” as you prepare dinner.

Dance like there’s no one watching

Some days you just need to let it all out!

Maybe the weather has kept you holed up inside.
Maybe your job has kept you chained to a desk or workstation.
Maybe you’ve been feeling sick.
Maybe you’re stuck in a rut.

Today is the day to get your wiggles out, express yourself artistically, feel your potential, use your muscles. Today is the day to DANCE.

Get running

Get running… or walking, anyway – whatever your fast pace is.
It’s time to stop strolling and start rolling along.

If the sidewalks and running tracks aren’t clear and dry where you are, then find an indoor track. Check the local Y or fitness center for a track, or speedwalk at the mall. We like actually moving better than a treadmill, but those are good, too – plus you know exactly how fast you’re going, and you can make it go faster!

That’s today’s plan – move faster. Challenge yourself to pick up the pace. Run like a river!

Hey sunshine! Get moving!

Whenever you have good weather, get outside for some exercise.

Take a walk, take a hike, go for a run.
Shoot some hoops. Or hula hoop.
Ride a bike, ride a skateboard, go inline skating.

Don’t waste the good weather days. Enjoy them!

Since our earlier post was all about surviving winter, here’s a winter song we like for exercise. Good for the treadmill, good for moving of any kind.

You could have had it all. And when it comes to your health, you still have a chance to improve it. You may be living with a chronic illness or a common cold, but either way (or anything in between), you can be healthier tomorrow than you are today.

It all comes down to your daily choices. There are so many factors in your control when it comes to health. Take advantage of that, and choose the healthy option – whether that’s a positive attitude, daily exercise, an extra vegetable at your meal, or skipping the coffee for a big glass of water.

Now get up and enjoy the next few minutes while you get moving. The beat of this song encourages bold movements, like kickboxing or squats. Whatever movement you choose, get into it.

Honey, let me sing… and maybe dance

With Valentine’s Day coming up, we thought a romantic song would be appropriate to help you get moving. It’s especially good if you want to practice dancing with your sweetie.

Whatever else you do, get up right now and stretch.

    Put your hands up and reach for the stars!
    Move your arms out to your sides, and reach to the left and then to the right. Go back and forth, stretching your sides.
    Gently roll your head from side to side, stretching your neck and shoulders.
    Reach down and touch your toes – or as close as you can get.
    Then pull in your stomach and slowly roll up to standing again.

Doesn’t that feel good? Take a minute to stretch several times during the day.

Spirit Sunday * Be a winner

So there’s a big sports contest today, between two good teams. Although one of the teams will win, both teams have garnered a lot of respect, and are already winners by getting to the game.
