We’re one-third through November today, and we’ve already looked at several NOs. So today we’ll take a break with some yeah-yeah-yeah’s.

What will you say YES to today?

  • Good dental hygiene? Brush and floss.
  • Hydration? Drink your water.
  • Leafy greens? Add spinach or kale to one meal.
  • Connections? Call a friend.
  • Vegetarian meals? Eat more plants.

Then by all means, phone a friend and get moving together.

A workout buddy can encourage you when you feel like quitting. She can keep your mind on other things while you rack up the miles or reps. Just knowing that she’s counting on you to be there for her can keep you committed to your fitness program.

Time to get moving

Sometimes the best motivation for an energetic walk or an enthusiastic run is a new song.

Here’s one we like, with a chorus that inspires us to keep going. And no, it’s not the lyrics (although we like them). It’s the music that gets us moving this time.

Go on – it’s time to get up, and get out there. Move! Energize all your parts, the ones you can see and the ones you can’t. Get that metabolic furnace fired up. You’re looking good this fall.

Tell ‘em you love ‘em

Sometimes we forget to tell the people we love how much we love them, and how much we appreciate their love in return. Give your loved ones a hug today – or if you can’t touch them, give them a call.

There’s nothing more important.

Stop talking, start walking

While we love our job with Marilu and Marilu.com, we also love taking vacations. We were in Memphis earlier this week, and it seemed fitting to let The King lend some wisdom to our workouts.

So… stop talking about your fitness plans.
Stop talking about how much you want to work out.
Stop talking about what you’ll do when you have the time/money/no kids in the way.

It’s time to stop talking, and start doing.

Now get up and move. You know you want to. It’s only your words that have talked you out of it.

Get revved up!

Get revved up! Your workout is supposed to get your heart rate up and make you sweat!

You’ll get energized for the rest of you day if you really get into it. Plus you’ll boost your metabolic rate, and be burning more calories through the day (even when you’re sitting). So get moving – break a sweat and then keep moving so you sweat for at least another 10 minutes. Don’t forget to warm up and cool down.

Today’s workout song is a nostalgic moment (if you’re a little older) or a retro moment (if you’re younger). It’s one of our old favorites for getting all revved up!
